SHOALHAVEN ZOO
Imagine my surprise as we left Mollymook when DAD said, "TED we are going off to visit a zoo on the way home". I was so excited I nearly wet my pants, but then remembered I don't wear any. My first stop was a ride on a tortoise at the front gate and when MUM told me he wasn't real, I got really upset. I just thought he was hibernating, so that's why he didn't move. However, the fur started to rise on the back of my neck when I saw this pic of a lion roaring.
I remembered something MUM taught me and that was to never expect, then you won't be disappointed. Why? Well, these two Kings of the Jungle were absolute softies and were just sitting in the sun relaxing. I tried climbing the fence to have a close encounter with them, but 'she who must be obeyed' wouldn't let me.
We then went and visited the domestic animals. Well, that was a big surprise as they were really feisty. One of these goats tried to eat Dad's zoo map and they kept trying to get me to open the gate, so they could escape. They were sick of humans patting them and the zoo keepers telling them to be on their best behaviour. When I told them I had to go, they tried to climb the fence. As you can see in this pic, I just wanted to get the hell outta there. One good thing happened though - a gosling pecked MUM's toe when she tried to pat its beak. It made my holiday!
