CENTRAL COAST
Well, it is almost the end of 2020 and MUM and DAD decided to do another COVID trip before the festive season. We headed up to Ettalong, which is not my favourite place, but as it was a beautiful sunny day, we hung out on the beach and watched the storm clouds approaching on the horizon. It is quite a different summer this year as La Nina is upon us and she is always blubbering, but that's a huge relief from the bushfires we had last year and, hopefully, all the koalas will be okay.
I made pals with this duck who used to come every morning and have a swim in the pool. His name is Daffy (no relation to the famous one in Hollywood) and I wanted to take him home to meet the bears in the cupboard - but you know who put a stop to that... One night we snuck off down to the beach with a few brewskies and he told me terrible stories about tourists who always say he looks good enough to eat. It made me happy to be a bear 'cause no-one wants us for dinner.
Just for a change we went to the local cinema, which was really weird. I thought I was on a movie set in Sicily, not on the Central Coast! I kept looking out for 'Ndrangheta but I think they may have been in disguise 'cause no-one wore gold chains or played with rosary beads, like they do in Palermo.
In between the storms we spent the best afternoon at Pearl Beach, which is my favourite place. We planned to go on a Postman's boat tour around the inlets the following day, but it was cancelled 'cause of COVID. Oh well, as MUM says, we just have to keep calm and carry on and hope that next year things will get back to 'normal' - whatever that means. I was happy to get home and have a bath and prepare for some festive partying before I enter rehab in 2021.
