SYMBIO WILDLIFE PARK - Helensburgh
This week MUM and DAD decided to visit another wildlife park to have yet another break from 'iso' and we stayed at our favourite place in Thirroul. This is the view from my bed where I watched the sunrise. We arrived the afternoon before and, when we went for dinner to the pub, MUM made me wear 'iso' stickers on my eyes to stop me from watching her gobble up her chocolate gelato. Then it was early to bed. I was so excited 'cause I was going to meet some new pals.
All I can say is "wow!" First off was this amazing turtle. I wanted to borrow his shell to pour my breakfast honey into it, but I got a clip around the baldies for that thought. Then there was this mini-crocodile who kept eyeing off my glass eyes and next I am checking out a Tasmanian tiger. MUM said he was extinct and that's why he didn't attack me. She can be a real spoilsport at times...
When we stopped to have some toasties for lunch, a group of sulphur-crested cockatoos (also known as backyard buddies...) came and sat with us. I made sure I practised social-distancing with this one as he had one eye on my baldies and I didn't want him to peck them to pieces as one did to Lady Sonya's deck at the Poleshack.
After lunch we went to feed the kangas and wallabies. They were really pleased to see us and some of them gobbled up their treats as if they had a minute to live. They reminded me of you know who - ouch! I must remember to remind 'she who must be obeyed' that it is rude to read over one's shoulder! Well, then the bestest thing happened. A rather dumpy wallaby - whose name is now Wilhelmina - had the daintiest manners and took ages to chew her way through a bag of grass and held DAD's hand while he was feeding her. I jumped on her back at one stage and pretended I was hopping through the outback. She didn't seem to mind and I reckon she had never been so close to a bear before.
This was definitely one of those days to remember - along with a gypsy plonking a budgie on my head in Syracuse, me trying to pinch fur off a llama's ears in Peru and then when I tried to get a mafioso in Palermo to put a horse's head in MUM's bed - with no luck! I keep humming Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side when I get up to mischief and, so far it has worked. I am just one lucky bear! I can't put up my koala video as I have sent it to our Prime Minister to remind him how beautiful they are and to make sure he does something about their habitats before they end up like Tasmanian tigers. But here is a smashing picture of one promoting the zoo and this last pic is one of me reminding everyone to pay attention on their way out - just in case all the animals decide to escape and return to the wild...
