CANBERRA
Recently, we went to Canberra for a couple of days. Here is a picture of me sitting on the dashboard of our car called Bertie. It took us only three hours to get there from Sydney as DAD drove fast and I was keeping a look-out for any wombats or kangaroos on the road, but I only saw a couple of dead lizards and some squashed beer cans. I waved at the policeman so he got a good picture of me on his speed camera as we whizzed past.
Here I am outside Parliament House. It was very difficult to drive up close as there are No Standing signs everywhere, but there are men in uniforms standing around. I got really confused as I did not recognise any of them, but they started waving madly at us when we stopped. I had to pose quickly so MUM could take this picture of me.
Then I got all excited as MUM and DAD said we would drive to The Lodge and try and have an afternoon cuppa with the Prime Minister, Ms Julia Gillard. Unfortunately there was a police car blocking her drive-way, so we had to keep going.
DAD drove around the block again and in that time it started to rain heavily and we missed the turning. Here's a picture of me looking very disappointed, but I didn't get too upset 'cause the BIG PEOPLE then took me to the National Gallery and I saw this fantastic painting called Blue Poles by an artist called Jackson Pollock. I asked MUM to take a photo of it (she was told off by the gallery guard!) so I can make a copy for the cupboard. It reminds me of the inside of my tummy when I have had too much honey...
Last weekend we drove down to Canberra in Bertie. We took J'Arrod who is my colourful cousin from Adelaide. He used to be a possum, but MUM set to him with a pair of scissors and a needle and thread and re-specied him, so he now looks like a bear - sort of! He was in town for Mardi Gras, but MUM said he was too young to go out on his own, so we took him on our road trip instead. He had a smashing time and wants to stay with the rest of the family in the cupboard. I have told him he has to behave and remember that what goes on in the cupboard, stays in the cupboard. He seems okay with the 'rules' and knows that if he breaks them he may end up being Kandii's new pal instead.
When we were in Canberra, we went to lots of exhibitions and the best one was of Elvis Presley at the Portrait Gallery. He was a famous rock n' roll singer, a bit before my time, but he looked kinda cute, so I didn't mind being dragged around to look at him. I managed to take this one of Elvis and his MUM before the attendant told MUM off, again! He tried to get MUM to delete the photo, but she insisted that I was just a stuffed toy (I lay very still with my eyes not blinking) and could not have possibly used my fat paws to push the button. Talking about 'fat' - I think that Elvis's MUM looks like you know who. Ouch!
OMG! We went to visit my Canberra Unkees, but I won't reveal their address in case someone in uniform reads my yarns. They had the biggest Mary Warner plant in their back garden. I sniffed it and got a bit of resin stuck up my nose. The rest of the trip was a bit of a blur. I couldn't stop giggling and ate all MUM's chocolates I found in the bottom of her bag. Ouch, I just got another clip around the ears. By the way, I tried to visit our current PM at the Lodge, but found out he doesn't live there. The guard on the front gate, who was in a really good mood, suggested we try the local zoo, so maybe next time I'll give it a go...
