Art Gallery of New South Wales
Today MUM and DAD took me for my first trip to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. On the front wall of the gallery are the names of lots of artists. I recognised one from our visit to Florence. His name is Donatello and if you look closely you can see his name above my head. I was sooooo excited 'cause I thought I would find some of his work in the gallery.
We walked around for hours looking at a new hanging of Australian art. MUM was really happy 'cause she saw that her favourite painting is still there. It is called Race to the market - Tahiti. It is by an artist called Nicholas Chevalier and he was born in Russia, but he lived in Australia a couple of centuries ago. Boy, he must be old by now. I like the picture of Nicholas's dog whose name is Tuppeny. I wanted him to come and live in the cupboard, but MUM said he has gone to doggy heaven. I started sobbing in a very loud voice.
I was so upset especially when MUM told me that I made so much noise that I shattered the arms off these two busts by the front entrance. I had to sneak out quietly as I couldn't fit all the pieces in MUM's bag and had to leave these bits on the floor. I am sorry if I made such a mess, but you know, I think it looks kind of arty myself. What do you think?
I don't think I found any Donatellos, but I did see this photo of his sister Donatella in the paper this morning. She looked a bit upset. Maybe it is 'cause I broke her brother's busts. They could have been Donatello's for all I know.
