BRAIDWOOD
Last weekend we went for a drive to Braidwood a beautiful heritage town in the NSW Southern Tablelands. It was the Australia Day long weekend and there were lots of cars and trucks on the road. Here's a photo of me and J'Arrod chilling out on Bertie's dashboard. We were watching the traffic whizzing past. I kept reminding J'Arrod to keep showing his best side, just in case we got zapped by the speed cameras.
We booked room 8 at the Cedar Lodge Motel. It is the same room that Mick Jagger stayed in when he was in Braidwood in 1970. He was the star of the film Ned Kelly. J'Arrod and I spent ages looking under the tiles in the room to see if Mick left any surprises for us. However, I think they had already been nicked by the renovators.
J'Arrod and I found these mushies which we munched on and started to see things we didn't know existed. I imagined I was riding a horse in the middle of the bush and saw J'Arrod hopping along on the back of a kangaroo. Then we robbed a bank and, well, what happened in Braidwood, stays in Braidwood.
When MUM and DAD arrived home from their dinner party, they found us sitting on Mick's bed looking very sleepy, which made MUM mighty suspicious. Little did she know that we had gobbled up all the sugar packets and refilled them with sand. J'Arrod had started on DAD's whisky, but I managed to fill it up with tea so it looked okay. I was dreading the next day when, you know who, would find out what we had been up to.
I think Mick may have tried a few mushies too!
Here's a painting I found of Ned Kelly trotting off into the sunset. I think he must have felt very hot wearing a metal hat. MUM said it was to keep the flies off as they knocked themselves out when they bumped into him. How cool is that!!!!!!
