PORT MACQUARIE
The week of the upcoming election we headed up to Port Macquarie to escape the constant babbling by the now defunct PM - Smirko. We stayed in a room with a view and every day we went exploring. Our first stop was the koala hospital. I wanted to adopt all the injured koalas, especially the one who had his paws burnt in the bushfires and was blind in one eye. As you can see in these pictures, this koala just sleeps on a branch most of the day 'cause he gets very tired from eating too many gum leaves. When he woke up we had a good ol' chat and I invited him to come and stay in the cupboard whenever he felt like a change of scenery.
No, he is not... a koala is a marsupial, whatever that is. He also doesn't like anyone touching him if he is brought up in the wild. Only sick koalas let humans touch them when they are being looked after. The closest I got was to this wooden one and, as you can see, he wasn't really very happy when I sat next to him.
Our next stop was the Bago vineyard. I tried a few of their wines and well, every picture tells a story...
The next day we went on a rainforest walk and I came across this diamond python. He was even bigger than the red-bellied black snake at Cotter River, in Canberra, but not as big as the anaconda in the Amazon. I tried to stuff him in MUM's bag, but... what lives in Port Macquarie, stays in Port Macquarie!
