NELSON BAY
Imagine my surprise when DAD said we were going on another COVID trip up north to visit Nelson Bay which is twice the size of Sydney Harbour. Then he announced we were going whale watching. I got a mighty clip around the baldies when I said, "wot, you mean we are going to sit on a beach and look at MUM?"
As you can see, it was worth it!

Our next stop was the koala sanctuary which was one of the saddest experiences of my life. All the koalas had health issues. One was blind, one was demented, one had been burnt and well, I can't go on. They all looked very tired and were sleeping as you can see in these pictures.
I was so upset but my spirits lifted when DAD decided to do a detour on the way back to Sydney and we visited the Reptile Park near Gosford. This is when I had one of the bestest times of my life. I was introduced to Manning who is simply adorable! However, because of social distancing we couldn't cuddle but I got to stroke his ears. Oh Happy Day! |
I also got to meet Ali, the alligator, who was really pleased to see me as you can see from the smile on his face and then, when I was having a rest, along came Lizzie, the lizard. She was really friendly and we chatted about lots of stuff. I tried to slip her into MUM's bag but one of the attendants saw me and, once again, MUM had a lot of explaining to do...
It's a good thing I learnt to read before I decided to quit skool. There are always so many signs everywhere and one thing I noticed is that they are always polite. Not like some BIG PEOPLE who don't know the meaning of 'please' and 'thank you' - that's why I am better off being a bear 'cause we just burble when we are together and no-one gets upset.
Our last close encounter was with this little Tassie Devil. I was so happy to learn that even though the Tasmanian Tigers are extinct, these little critters are still with us and are sooooo cute!
